We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented BT Intern!
TheNewMakers is a special architectural firm that not only designs, but also details and produces under one roof. Production is done completely digitally, on our own computer-controlled (CNC) machines. This ultimate integration of the entire process from sketch to delivery makes it possible for a young company to achieve disruptive innovations in construction. For example, TheNewMakers has developed its own prefab bathroom module that we apply together with partners in large wood construction projects (CLT), see for example our Houtbaar Lofts. We have also developed an affordable wooden starter home that will be rolled out on a large scale, our Uuthuuskes.
What we are looking for: We have room in our team for an enthusiastic, curious and independent Building Technology student who is not afraid of the experimental nature of a scale-up. Someone with excellent product development skills who continuously focuses on the integration between design, engineering and digital production. Because the product development of TheNewMakers is located next to the production and assembly area, you will see your ideas become a physical reality in no time. Proficiency in Rhino is a plus – Grasshopper, BIM, After Effects and scripting are a nice bonus. You will mainly work on the further development and detailing of the core products of TheNewMakers: the Diamond Suite, the Uuthuuske, the No Waste (NOWA) Kitchen and our ComfortCabin. In addition to this core activity, there is plenty of room to deploy and further develop other skills, such as: optimization of digital production processes, photography & film, model building, assistance with assembly, assistance with assembly on location and finishing. No two working days will look the same!
What we offer: If you become part of our fun, young, and growing team, you will of course get a lot in return! You will work on very diverse projects at different scales: from chair to city. Due to the growth of TheNewMakers, we can offer you a lot of responsibility. With us you don’t sit in front of the PC 5 days a week, but your work is very diverse and you have regular customer contact. Outside working hours you can make private use of our laser cutter and Festool collection. Every day we have an extensive lunch with the whole team. Above all, we offer a very instructive (half) year in which you will get to know many new people and develop many skills. The compensation is €500 for 1 FTE, with the option of 4 days/wk and possible support for your own projects on the 5th day. We are located in Ridderkerk, which we offer transport to each day.
Dates: The internship runs for half a year, from February – August. (Start and end dates can be negotiated.)
